- The soothing atmosphere provides a suitable stage for the refined food of Jovii Lopraset and his wife, Jiraporn Wonnonam, who opened Sirayvah in San Carlos earlier this year. This upscale Thai restaurant exudes elegance without pretension. Unlike many Thai restaurants in the Bay Area, Sirayvah -- named after the couple's oldest daughter -- uses mostly organic ingredients, free- range meats and wild seafood. And instead of family-style portions, entrees are meant for one, and are executed with flair and attention to detail.
-
- As an added bonus, the top-notch food is plated simply but attractively...... Across the board, we found winners in each part of the menu.......
-
- If there is a weak link at Sirayvah, it is the service, which is pleasant but nondescript, and lacks the same precision as the cooking. The wine list is also very limited, which is too bad considering the sophisticated fare. But the restaurant does offer a nice selection of teas, which are served in ornate hand-painted pots and cups that suit the polished interior.
-
- All in all, the variables add up nicely at Sirayvah, making it a great escape, be it from the sweltering heat or from the stressful pulse of everyday life.
